Android TV
Brand Architecture | Product Guidelines | Co-Branding
Partnered with some of the biggest names in the smart TV and streaming device space, Android TV had to navigate co-branding with the likes of Sony, Philips, Sharp and Nvida.
Android TV needed to create robust branding guidelines that would effectively educate their partners on the correct usage of their brand when creating packaging, marketing materials, product pages and other consumer facing touchpoints for products that were powered by their smart TV platform. Through consistent and effective branding guidelines, Android TV aimed to make it much easier for consumers to understand the benefits of using Android TV, and prioritize it as part of their purchase intent.
We worked closely with the Android TV brand team on creating a comprehensive set of brand guidelines that would illustrate in detail both proper and improper brand usage across design and verbal touchpoints. We split these touchpoints into four different areas focusing on co-branding logo lockups, packaging design, online product pages, and microsites. We then created a set of these guidelines for each partner category Android TV works with. Each partner type needed to be treated slightly differently, taking into consideration their specific relationship to the Android TV brand. These partner types included OEM smart TV manufacturers like Sony, streaming set-top box producers like Nvida, and cable operators such as Vodaphone.
The finished guidelines were then uploaded to the Google Partner Marketing Hub where they could be easily accessed and referenced by each partner to help guide their creative work and maintain a strong presence for the Android TV brand across all consumer touchpoints.
